There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven—
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NASB 2020)
During a moment of significant indecision and confusion in my professional life, I decided to embark on a new career search. I chose to give up my desire to control things and allowed God to guide me in every step of my new journey. Friend, have you ever felt dissatisfied with your career or job? Have you struggled to identify the right path for you? If the answer for these questions is affirmative, I completely understand you! In order to identify my passion, I resolved to dedicate time to get to know myself better and get closer to God. The outcome? Become a writer. In this first post, I'll share with you the top three reasons that led me to pursue a career as a writer.

1) Writing Sparks Joy In Me
A few months ago, my husband and I went to a medical facility to get him some lab work done. While we were waiting for his turn, I saw the word logophile on a TV followed by its meaning. Instantly, I fell in love with it! Logophile means to be a lover of words. Isn't that beautiful? Words captured in books, short stories, blogs, poems, songs, prayers, and more bring a better understanding of life. During my career quest, I identified a desire to share my thoughts, life lessons, and emotions in a written form. For that reason, I decided to use writing as a tool to inspire, instruct, help, and support those who may be struggling with life's trials or are in need of encouragement.
Now, what about you, my friend? Is there something that sparks joy in you like writing does for me? If the answer is a resounding “Yes”, then don't wait any longer and ask God to help you start your new career journey!
2) Writing Brings Me Fulfillment
Before becoming a writer, I was a Brazilian Portuguese instructor for over four years. After moving to the United States, I worked as a Spanish teacher at a private school and as a Guest Experience Specialist at a recognized hotel brand. I loved to share my knowledge and watch my beloved students succeed in class. I enjoyed helping guests from all over the world during their stays. However, I didn’t find fulfillment in my jobs. So I spoke with my husband about how I felt and we agreed that I needed time to focus on myself to identify my passion, my calling.
During this time of understanding myself better, I noticed that anything related to ‘the written world’ brought a sense of calm, endless inspiration, motivation, and happiness to my life. I didn't mind spending hours learning about the art of writing or doing exercises to spur my creativity and skills. I was searching for a career that would bring me joy. And here I am dedicating my strengths, interests, knowledge, and skills to writing.
Getting to know yourself better is the best way to identify what brings you fulfillment. How about setting up time with yourself to achieve this? I bet you’ll discover the wonderful gifts God has given you.
3) God Affirmed My Career As a Writer
Since you are already part of this journey, there is something that you need to know about me: I love God with all my heart, soul, and mind, and I love my neighbor as myself. For those who believe in the God of Christianity, our relationship with Him is key to achieving growth in any area and stage of our life. I started this post quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1, which indicates that there is a time for EVERYTHING on this earth. This whole chapter was my comfort during years of uncertainty, confusion, and doubts. After I put my professional life on pause and started to search for my true passion, the first thing I did was refocus my life on God. I began to pray more, read the Bible on a daily basis, fast once a month, and spend more time with family and friends.
While I was getting closer to God, I didn't know that He was quietly working on the event that would launch my career as a writer. On June 7th, 2024, at 2:51 p.m., I received an email from The Upper Room, a ministry that publishes bi-monthly devotionals in more than 30 languages, indicating that a devotion I sent them in 2019 will be published in May-June 2025. At that moment, my mind started to connect the dots. I suddenly realized that this was the path that God had for me. My heart was flooded with gratitude and pure joy. God’s timing is perfect!
My friend, a life dedicated to God will lead you to the right path at the precise time. Please, ask yourself “What step can I take today to get closer to God and live a life doing what He wired me to do?”
